About our Event

RACE INFO:    
The ASBMB Golden Helix 5K (3.1 mile) race is an open-road race; main roads are not closed (see course map). Walkers Welcome!!! A police escort is provided, and emergency services are on-call. The section of Stadium Drive between Prescott Hall and Sherlock Park (from 10th St. to University Drive) are closed for the start and finish celebrations. The race happens rain or shine; there are no refunds. Strollers are welcome and should group behind all runners at the start line. No pets allowed without a doggy bag. The 5K is a chip timed. USATF Certified Course #TN14097MS is timed for 70 minutes.  Lots of Prizes! Door prizes! Entertainment! 




 2018 Order of events

8:30 - 9:30 a.m.  Late Registration and Packet pick-up.
Bathrooms will be available inside of Prescott Hall throughout the entire event. 


9:55 a.m: Line up behind the start truss. 
Strollers and walkers will need to go to the back of the line. Competitive runners will need to go to the front. *Make sure your chip/bib is pinned securely on the front of your shirt so it will be visible to TN Race Timing professionals.

10:00 a.m: START.Race route can be found at http://www.goldenhelix5k.com/course-map

11:00 a.m: Begin door prizes and awards ceremony at Prescott Hall 





Proceeds from this event is divided to support fundraising for (1)TTU scholarship funds, (2) a Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic in Cookeville, and the missions of the TTU Chemistry Department student organizations: (3) the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB), and (4) the American Chemical Society Student Affiliates (ACS-SA). The ASBMB and ACS-SA will direct funds toward student research and science outreach activities.
